What a Tune-Up Covers
A maintenance visit is a full check of both halves of the system — the condenser outside and the air handler or furnace inside — with measurements taken rather than a quick look.
- Condenser coil cleaning — a dirty outdoor coil raises head pressure and shortens compressor life
- Evaporator coil and blower — checked for buildup that quietly cuts airflow
- Filter — changed or cleaned, and we show you the right size for next time
- Refrigerant charge — measured against the equipment’s specification
- Capacitor and contactor — tested, so a marginal one gets caught before it strands you
- Electrical connections and amp draw at the compressor and motors
- Condensate drain — cleared before it backs up into the ceiling or the pan
- Thermostat operation — including the heating changeover on a heat pump
- Temperature split across the coil, to confirm the system is actually performing
When to Schedule
Twice a year is the standard: cooling checked in spring, heating checked in fall. The timing matters more than most people expect — a capacitor that tests weak in March is a scheduled visit, while the same capacitor failing in July is an emergency call in the heat.
Heating deserves the fall visit for a different reason. The system has sat unused since spring, and the first cold night is when everyone discovers the problem at the same time. Checking it in advance puts you ahead of that queue.

Why It Is Worth Doing
Maintenance does not make a system last forever, and we are not going to claim it does. What it reliably does is three things: it catches parts that are degrading while replacing them is still cheap, it keeps the system running at the efficiency it was designed for instead of quietly costing you more each month, and it gives you a straight answer on how much life the equipment has left — so a replacement is a decision you plan for rather than one that gets made for you in August.
