After-Hours Residential AC Repair & Capacitor Replacement 09.16.26

Setpoint Services responded to an after-hours residential air conditioning service call after the homeowner experienced an AC cooling problem.

During diagnosis, the outdoor condenser was inspected and a failed run capacitor was identified. The condenser coil was also found heavily dirty, restricting airflow and reducing the system's ability to properly reject heat. The indoor air filter was inspected and found clogged, further restricting airflow through the residential HVAC system.

To restore cooling during the after-hours service call, Setpoint Services washed and cleaned the outdoor condenser coil, replaced the clogged air filter, and installed an emergency universal replacement capacitor to get the air conditioning system back into operation.

Setpoint Services later returned to complete the permanent repair. The temporary universal capacitor was removed and replaced with the proper 40/5 µF dual-run capacitor. The residential AC system was then returned to normal configuration and operation.

This service included residential AC troubleshooting, condenser coil cleaning, air filter replacement, emergency capacitor replacement, and installation of the proper dual-run capacitor to provide a permanent repair.
