Setpoint Services performed residential air conditioning repair and maintenance on a central AC system, model 24ABA424A0031010, at a home in Austin, Texas. The system was initially found turned off but successfully restarted through the thermostat. During inspection, the outdoor condenser coil was found heavily clogged with dirt and debris, restricting airflow and reducing heat rejection. The condenser coil was thoroughly cleaned using professional coil cleaner to restore proper airflow and improve cooling efficiency.
Electrical testing identified a weak dual-run capacitor, with the compressor section measuring 29.44 µF against its 35 µF rating and the condenser fan section measuring 4.5 µF against its 5 µF rating. The defective capacitor was replaced to restore reliable compressor and condenser fan operation. The condensate drain line was also cleared using a vacuum, and the drain pan was inspected for standing water.
Following repairs, the air conditioning system was tested with operating pressures of 128 PSI suction and 326 PSI discharge, 18°F superheat, 20°F subcooling, and an 18°F supply-to-return air temperature difference. The indoor temperature reached 75°F, and the residential AC system was operating and cooling properly before departure.
