Performed commercial refrigeration repair on a True reach-in cooler at Progressive Restaurant Equipment in Austin TX. Arrived on site with replacement compressor and filter drier after previous diagnosis confirmed compressor failure. Pressure tested the refrigeration system with nitrogen and verified the capillary tube was not restricted prior to repair. Replaced faulty compressor and installed new liquid line filter drier. Performed triple evacuation procedure and deep vacuum testing to remove moisture and non-condensables from the refrigeration system before charging. Charged unit to factory specification of 3.7 ounces of refrigerant and verified normal refrigeration operation after startup. Final operating pressures were within normal range at approximately 45 PSI suction and 200 PSI discharge. Unit reached and maintained proper operating temperature prior to departure. All reach-in units were tested after service and verified to be maintaining proper operating temperatures except for the under-counter freezer listed below. Performed commercial kitchen exhaust fan replacement for Encantada in Austin TX after installation of a new dishwasher exhaust hood system. Hoisted new rooftop exhaust fan into place, removed existing exhaust fan assembly, and completed installation of the new commercial ventilation fan. Wired line voltage power to the unit and tested operation after installation. Verified proper fan operation and airflow prior to departure. Old exhaust fan was lowered from the roof for disposal by restaurant staff. Also performed refrigerant leak inspection on the walk-in cooler evaporator and condenser system. No refrigerant leaks were detected and sight glass remained full during operation. During inspection, observed dirt buildup on the walk-in cooler evaporator coil which may restrict airflow and contribute to icing conditions and reduced cooling efficiency. Recommended evaporator coil cleaning to improve refrigeration performance and airflow.
