Performed commercial refrigeration service on a pie display case at Tumble 22 in Austin TX after customer reported the unit reached elevated temperatures the previous day.
Upon inspection, verified the refrigeration system was operating normally and maintaining proper set temperature. Confirmed evaporator coil was free of ice buildup and verified defrost cycle was functioning correctly.
Cleared condensate drain line to ensure proper drainage and prevent future moisture issues.
During evaluation, observed the refrigeration system operating with a critically low refrigerant charge while still maintaining temperature at time of service.
Based on operating conditions and system inspection, the most likely cause of the temporary temperature rise was the display case door being left open during the defrost cycle, allowing excessive warm air infiltration into the cabinet.
