• Recharged the refrigeration system with four pounds of R-22 to bring it back to a proper operating charge
• Confirmed a full liquid column at the liquid line sight glass after charging
• Restarted the system and monitored it to verify the box was pulling down and holding temperature

Final Operating Conditions

With the coil clean and the charge corrected, the system returned to normal refrigeration performance:

• Suction pressure: 45 PSI
• Discharge pressure: 260 PSI
• Liquid line sight glass: clear, full liquid column

Why Four Pounds of Refrigerant Is a Finding, Not a Fix

Refrigeration systems are sealed. They do not consume refrigerant the way an engine consumes oil. If a system accepts four pounds of refrigerant, that refrigerant left the system somewhere — and on a walk-in cooler this size, four pounds is not a rounding error. It is the difference between a slow seep and a leak actively working against the equipment.

That distinction matters because a recharge resets the symptom without touching the cause.
