Why the Phase Wiring Mattered

On three-phase equipment, phase sequence determines which direction a scroll compressor turns. Energize one backward and it will run loud, move almost no refrigerant, and damage itself — sometimes in a matter of minutes. • Condenser coils foul faster in Central Texas than most operators expect. Cottonwood, construction dust, and kitchen exhaust residue all land on rooftop coils, and a coil that looks passable from six feet away can be badly restricted internally.
