Setpoint Services performed emergency commercial chiller service on a HYFRA Sigma34-S R-410A process chiller in Austin, Texas. Diagnostics identified an active refrigerant leak in the aluminum condenser coil. Service included condenser cleaning, leak diagnosis, refrigerant recovery and recharging, filter-drier replacement, multiple field repair attempts, evacuation, pressure monitoring, and repeated emergency visits to keep critical production equipment operating. Due to deterioration and additional pinholes in the aluminum condenser, a permanent field repair could not be achieved. The permanent corrective action is replacement of the condenser coil followed by pressure testing, evacuation, proper R-410A charging, and full-load performance verification.
