Commercial Goodman AC Refrigeration & Airflow Diagnosis 09.14.26
Setpoint Services performed commercial air conditioning diagnostics on a Goodman GSC130603CD three-phase R-22 AC system serving a commercial kitchen. At the time of inspection, the air conditioning system was operational and had successfully cooled the space to the thermostat setpoint of 75°F.
During refrigeration system testing, operating pressures were approximately 55 PSI suction and 277 PSI discharge, with a saturated suction temperature of approximately 30°F and saturated discharge temperature of approximately 125°F. Although the commercial AC was cooling and maintaining setpoint, the operating conditions indicated that additional inspection was warranted.
Based on the system readings, a dirty or restricted indoor evaporator coil causing reduced airflow is suspected. A possible restriction within the refrigerant circuit is also being considered. Setpoint Services recommended inspecting and thoroughly cleaning the evaporator coil first to ensure proper airflow through the system. After the coil is cleaned, refrigeration pressures and overall system performance should be checked again to determine whether additional refrigerant circuit diagnostics are necessary.
The commercial AC system remained operational and maintained the building at approximately 75°F at the time of departure.
During the same service visit, a separate Heatcraft walk-in freezer was inspected and found with a mechanically locked evaporator fan motor and broken motor mounting hardware. Replacement of the freezer evaporator fan motor and damaged mounting components was recommended.
