Manitowoc Ice Machine Refrigerant Leak Repair 09.14.26

Setpoint Services performed commercial ice machine repair on a Manitowoc IDF0900N-261A ice machine after the unit stopped producing ice. The customer reported that the machine was operating but the suction line was not getting cold.

During refrigeration diagnostics, the system was found completely depleted of refrigerant, with the suction side pulling into a vacuum during operation. A rub-out refrigerant leak was located near the high-side service port. Compressor amp draw was measured at approximately 7 amps.

Setpoint Services repaired the refrigerant leak near the high-side service port and replaced the filter drier due to the system having operated in a vacuum, which could allow moisture and contamination into the refrigeration circuit. Necessary brazing and soldering were completed, and repaired joints and connections were inspected before evacuation.

The Manitowoc refrigeration system was then pulled into a deep vacuum and recharged with 7 lbs of R-404A refrigerant. The ice machine was returned to operation and monitored through two complete ice-making cycles.

At completion of service, the Manitowoc ice machine was producing ice normally, successfully completed two cycles, and compressor amp draw remained approximately 7 amps.
