Setpoint Services completed preventive maintenance on two Bard trailer-mounted commercial HVAC systems in San Antonio, Texas. Both package units serve a climate-controlled medical trailer where maintaining proper indoor temperature and humidity is critical for reliable operation.
Our preventive maintenance service included removing access panels, cleaning both evaporator coils to restore airflow, cleaning both condenser coils to improve heat rejection, inspecting blower assemblies, clearing condensate drain lines, and verifying overall equipment operation. Refrigerant operating pressures were recorded on both R-410A systems after cleaning to confirm normal performance.
Both units stabilized at approximately a 42°F evaporator saturation temperature with discharge pressures just under 400 PSI. Indoor trailer temperatures remained approximately 70°F at both thermostats at the completion of service.
During the inspection, one trailer HVAC system was observed operating with continuous compressor vapor injection while the adjacent unit under similar operating conditions did not require vapor injection. Evidence also suggested the compressor and condenser coil on that unit had previously been replaced. These findings may indicate the presence of non-condensable gases remaining within the refrigeration system from previous repair work.
The customer also expressed concerns regarding humidity inside the trailer. Relative humidity measured approximately 49%, which is considered within a normal operating range.
Setpoint Services recommended continued monitoring following today's cleaning. If elevated head pressures or continuous vapor injection continue, we recommend recovering the refrigerant, performing a triple evacuation, and recharging the system with virgin R-410A to eliminate any possible non-condensable gases. Both Bard commercial HVAC systems were operating properly upon departure with improved airflow and cooling performance.
