Setpoint Services completed an emergency commercial rooftop air conditioner repair for a 7-Eleven convenience store in Lockhart, Texas. The customer reported that one of the rooftop HVAC units had stopped cooling, requiring immediate diagnosis to restore comfort inside the store.
Upon arrival, our technician found the condensing section was not operating because the compressor contactor was not receiving a 24-volt control signal. Electrical testing confirmed that the thermostat was supplying 24 VAC, but the rooftop unit's control board was not sending power to the contactor. The failed control board prevented the condenser from starting, resulting in a complete loss of cooling.
To restore air conditioning as quickly as possible, Setpoint Services temporarily bypassed the failed control board, allowing the condenser and compressor to operate normally until a replacement control board can be installed. The system was restarted, monitored through a complete operating cycle, and verified to be cooling properly.
Final operating conditions measured 135 PSI suction pressure, 370 PSI discharge pressure, and a 16°F temperature split, confirming normal cooling performance following the temporary repair. The rooftop unit was operating correctly at the time of departure. A replacement OEM control board has been recommended to return the system to its original factory control configuration and provide a permanent repair.
