Walk-In Freezer Leak
Walk-In Freezer Leak. Added 2 lbs. of R-404A to system. After refrigerant addition, system discharge pressure increased to 225 PSI. Observed discharge regulating valve actively modulating, indicating system is compensating for low ambient conditions and working to maintain head pressure. With the discharge regulating valve working continuously, compressor is under increased operating stress and conditions suggest the compressor may be approaching failure. Due to repeated low charge condition and inability to locate/confirm leak location, customer was advised that the system is no longer a good candidate for continued repairs and refrigerant additions. Recommendation is to replace the entire refrigeration system (condensing unit and evaporator components), excluding the walk-in box structure.
