Setpoint Services performed commercial refrigeration preventive maintenance at Blue Corn Harvest Bar & Grill in Cedar Park, Texas, servicing multiple reach-in refrigerators, prep tables, back-bar coolers, a glass froster, and the restaurant's walk-in cooler. The refrigeration equipment included units from True Refrigeration, Turbo Air, Dukers, Everest, and other commercial refrigeration manufacturers.
During the inspection, a True TRCB-72 lowboy refrigerator that had reportedly been operating above 40°F was found with a heavily clogged condenser media filter. The dirty filter was restricting condenser airflow and reducing heat rejection. Setpoint Services replaced the media filter, restored proper condenser airflow, and verified that the refrigerator was able to return to proper operating temperature. Continued temperature monitoring was recommended.
A 48-inch commercial glass froster was also found with a non-functional evaporator fan and ice buildup on the evaporator coil. The failed evaporator fan was reducing airflow across the coil and may be contributing to the freeze-up condition. Replacement of the evaporator fan motor and additional inspection after the repair were recommended.
Preventive maintenance included clearing accessible refrigeration drain lines, replacing applicable condenser media filters, and checking equipment temperatures and operation. Aside from the glass froster requiring additional repair, the serviced reach-in refrigeration equipment was able to reach proper operating temperature at the completion of service.
The restaurant's walk-in cooler was also inspected and serviced. The evaporator coil was found clean, the condenser coil was cleaned with coil cleaner, the condenser fan motor capacitor tested within acceptable range, and the refrigerant sight glass was verified full. The walk-in cooler reached proper operating temperature and was operating normally when service was completed.
