Setpoint Services performed commercial walk-in freezer refrigeration repairs at Coast-to-Coast Distribution in Austin, Texas. The large industrial cold storage freezer is equipped with two outdoor condensing units and four evaporators designed to maintain consistent freezing temperatures throughout the facility.
During a previous service visit, technicians discovered that one of the refrigeration systems was significantly low on refrigerant. The system was evacuated and recharged with R-404A refrigerant to restore cooling performance.
During this follow-up visit, technicians identified a defective three-pole compressor contactor on Freezer System #1. The faulty contactor was replaced with a 50-amp three-pole contactor, restoring proper electrical operation of the compressor.
Both refrigeration systems were inspected, and the temperature controls were adjusted to turn the compressors on at 16°F and off at 10°F. Following the contactor replacement, the walk-in freezer successfully pulled down below 10°F, confirming that the repaired system was producing adequate cooling.
Additional testing identified an intermittent oil-pressure safety issue associated with one of the compressors. Further inspection of the compressor's internal discharge valve plates was recommended to investigate the low oil-pressure differential and intermittent safety trips.
The customer declined additional refrigerant charging on Freezer System #2 during this visit. The repaired system was operating and maintaining freezing temperatures at the completion of service. Continued monitoring and additional compressor diagnostics were recommended to maintain reliable operation of the large commercial walk-in freezer.
