Setpoint Services diagnosed and repaired a Glastender ST48-SF commercial reach-in cooler at Encantada Cocina & Cantina in Georgetown, Texas. Initial diagnosis identified a failed defrost clock, which was replaced to restore the defrost control system. Once the new defrost clock was operating, an additional compressor starting problem was identified. Electrical testing found 120 VAC entering the overload protector but no voltage reaching the compressor common terminal. The faulty starting components were replaced with a hard-start kit, allowing the compressor to start and operate normally. Final operating pressures were approximately 17 PSI suction and 127 PSI discharge on the R-134a system. The cooler reached operating temperature and proper operation was verified before departure.
