Taylor Margarita Machine Refrigeration Repair – Kyle, TX 09.11.26

Setpoint Services performed commercial refrigeration diagnostics and repair on a Taylor 432-27 margarita and frozen beverage machine at A Little Shady in Kyle, Texas. The R-404A machine was running but was no longer properly freezing product. Initial refrigeration pressures were approximately 15 PSI suction and 170 PSI discharge, indicating a low-refrigerant condition.

Approximately 0.5 lb of R-404A refrigerant was added and the Taylor frozen beverage machine was monitored. Pressures increased to approximately 30 PSI suction and 230 PSI discharge, and the right barrel returned to proper freezing operation. A slow refrigerant leak is suspected on the right-barrel refrigeration circuit, and a complete leak search was recommended to locate the source of refrigerant loss.

The left barrel continued to experience a separate refrigeration problem. When activated, suction pressure pulled down to approximately 0 PSI and the barrel would not freeze. Electrical testing found the liquid-line solenoid valve coil open and failed. A service magnet was temporarily installed for additional testing, but refrigerant flow was still restricted, indicating that the liquid-line solenoid valve itself was also mechanically stuck or failing to open properly.

Permanent repair of the left barrel will require replacement of the liquid-line solenoid valve, solenoid coil, and liquid-line filter drier. The refrigeration circuit will then be pressure tested, pulled into a deep vacuum, recharged with new virgin R-404A refrigerant, and tested to verify proper refrigeration pressures and freezing operation.

At completion of service, the right barrel was operational and freezing product, although the suspected slow refrigerant leak remains. The left barrel remained non-operational pending replacement of the failed refrigeration components.
