True Prep Table Frozen Evaporator Coil & Commercial Refrigeration Maintenance 08.25.26
Setpoint Services inspected a True commercial prep table/refrigeration unit at Scholz Garten in Austin, Texas after finding the evaporator coil frozen over during a commercial refrigeration preventive maintenance visit. The True refrigeration unit requires additional diagnostic service to determine the underlying cause of the evaporator freeze-up. A frozen evaporator can restrict airflow across the coil and prevent a commercial refrigerator or prep table from maintaining proper operating temperatures.
The True prep table was one of several pieces of commercial refrigeration equipment inspected and maintained during the visit. Preventive maintenance included replacing media filters, clearing condensate drain lines, and inspecting equipment condition and operation. A Hoshizaki commercial freezer was also identified as not reaching proper temperature and requiring additional diagnostics.
Setpoint Services also performed preventive maintenance on three commercial walk-in cooler systems, including Heatcraft and Trenton refrigeration equipment. Condenser coils were cleaned, evaporator coils were inspected, refrigerant sight glasses were confirmed full, and condensate drain lines were cleared. Two Micro Matic commercial beer chillers received condenser coil cleaning and general equipment inspections.
Commercial rooftop HVAC preventive maintenance was completed during the same service visit on multiple Rheem and York systems. Work included condenser coil cleaning, condensate drain maintenance, belt inspections, capacitor testing, and refrigerant pressure checks. A failing condenser fan capacitor on a York RTU was identified and replaced, returning the circuit to service.
