Setpoint Services performed commercial walk-in cooler repair at Smokey Mo’s Bar-B-Q in Round Rock, Texas after the restaurant reported that its walk-in cooler was not cooling properly. The refrigeration system includes a Trenton TEHA020E6-HS2B-B condensing unit and a Trenton/KeepRite TPLP214MAS1DR6 evaporator operating with R-404A refrigerant.

Upon arrival, the walk-in cooler evaporator coil was found frozen over. Setpoint Services completely de-iced the evaporator coil and cleared the condensate drain line. The outdoor condenser was also inspected and found heavily clogged with dirt and debris. The condenser coil was cleaned to restore proper airflow and improve heat rejection.

During refrigeration system testing, the sight glass was found flashing, indicating the system required additional refrigerant. Setpoint Services added 1.5 lbs of R-404A refrigerant, after which the sight glass cleared. Evaporator superheat was checked and measured between approximately 1.5°F and 5.5°F.

The refrigeration system was inspected for leaks, but no refrigerant leak was located during this service visit. The walk-in cooler continued pulling down in temperature and reached approximately 45°F before departure, with the sight glass full and clear.
