The Problem: A Back Bar Cooler That Wouldn’t Start
The operator reported a complete compressor failure on a True back bar cooler — the unit was holding no temperature and the compressor would not start. Our technician arrived on site, confirmed the no-start condition, and traced it back to the source rather than simply swapping parts.
The culprit was at the compressor itself: the thermal overload wire connection had burned and disconnected at the overload terminal. With that connection broken, the compressor had no path to start, so the cooler sat dead while the cabinet temperature climbed.
The Repair

- Tested startup amperage and confirmed proper operation before leaving
With the hard start kit in place, startup amperage measured a healthy 5 amps and the compressor cycled cleanly. The cooler was pulling temperature and verified operating properly at departure.
