Walk-In Cooler & Freezer Refrigeration Inspection – Little River Academy, TX
Near State Hwy 95 Little River Academy, TX 76554

Service Date: April 13, 2026 — Little River Academy, TX
Setpoint Services responded to a commercial refrigeration call in Little River Academy, TX, where a facility was experiencing problems with both its walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer simultaneously. Our technician performed a thorough inspection of each system and identified the root cause of each failure.
Walk-In Cooler: Major Refrigerant Leak at the Receiver
Inspection of the walk-in cooler (Evaporator Model: CPF100DC-A, R404A) revealed a major refrigerant leak at the bottom of the receiver. The leak had progressed far enough to result in a complete loss of system charge. A full repair scope was developed to restore the unit to proper operation:- Recover any remaining refrigerant in the system
- Replace the failed receiver
- Replace the liquid line filter drier to eliminate moisture and contaminants
- Pressure test with nitrogen to confirm no additional leak points
- Perform deep vacuum (triple evacuation) to ensure a moisture-free system
- Recharge with R404A refrigerant to factory specifications
- Verify system pressures, operation, and overall performance
Walk-In Freezer: Restricted Refrigerant Flow & TXV Failure
The walk-in freezer (Evaporator Model: CFB075DC-A, R404A) showed clear signs of restricted or improper refrigerant flow, consistent with a failing or mechanically restricted Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TXV). A targeted repair scope was outlined for this unit as well:- Replace the TXV (Thermostatic Expansion Valve)
- Replace the liquid line filter drier
- Nitrogen pressure test to confirm system integrity
- Perform deep vacuum (triple evacuation)
- Recharge with R404A refrigerant as needed
- Adjust and verify proper superheat and full system operation
