Setpoint Services completed commercial refrigeration repair, walk-in cooler repair, walk-in freezer repair, and ice machine service for a restaurant in Austin, Texas. Technicians were dispatched to diagnose refrigeration equipment issues affecting both a walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer. During troubleshooting, electrical issues were identified affecting refrigeration system operation. Repairs were completed to restore normal operation, and both refrigeration systems were tested to verify proper cooling performance. Additional preventative maintenance was performed including condenser coil cleaning, refrigeration electrical inspections, drain maintenance, capacitor testing, and replacement of failed compressor run capacitors. A Manitowoc commercial ice machine was also serviced after reporting operational faults. Setpoint Services completed commercial rooftop HVAC repair for a restaurant facility in Austin, Texas. The rooftop air conditioning system was experiencing multiple electrical control failures preventing proper cooling operation. Technicians performed extensive HVAC diagnostics and discovered failures involving the pressure control board, main control board, and contactor coil. Additional troubleshooting identified improper wiring modifications from previous repair attempts that affected blower motor and compressor operation. Wiring was corrected to manufacturer specifications and all failed components were replaced. Following repairs, the rooftop HVAC unit was tested through multiple operating cycles. Thermostat operation, safety controls, compressor performance, blower performance, and refrigerant system operation were verified. Serial: 16466KB82F Description of Work Performed Arrived onsite to diagnose a Trane XR air conditioning system that was not operating. After approximately 2.5 hours of troubleshooting, located a failed condenser contactor coil that had shorted internally. The shorted contactor caused the low-voltage transformer to fail and also resulted in a blown control circuit fuse. Replaced the failed contactor, replaced the damaged transformer, and installed a new control fuse. Verified proper low-voltage operation and restored communication through the control circuit. Started and tested the system after repairs. Checked refrigerant pressures, electrical operation, and overall cooling performance. System is now operating normally and all readings were within manufacturer operating range at the time of departure. Additional Notes Diagnostic time associated with locating the failure was not billed, as troubleshooting had been performed during a previous preventative maintenance visit. Unable to obtain refrigerant pressure readings initially due to a faulty transformer.
Replaced transformer to restore operation. Findings: 5-amp fuse continues to blow several minutes after the unit begins operating.
Additional diagnostics are required to identify the source of the electrical fault. Status: Unit requires further troubleshooting to determine the cause of the recurring fuse failure. Technician Notes Preventative maintenance was completed on all equipment. Upstairs unit is operating properly at this time. Downstairs unit has an unresolved electrical issue causing repeated 5-amp fuse failures after startup. Further diagnostic service is recommended to isolate and repair the fault.
