Setpoint Services completed a commercial refrigeration repair on a reach-in cooler at Tacobaby at Moontower Saloon, located at 10212 Menchaca Rd, Austin, TX 78748, after the customer reported the cooler was no longer maintaining proper temperature. Upon arrival, the evaporator fan motor was operating normally; however, both the condenser fan motor and compressor were inoperative. Electrical diagnostics revealed the power supply wiring feeding the condenser section had burned, causing a complete loss of power to the compressor and condenser fan motor. Setpoint Services repaired and reconnected the damaged electrical wiring, restoring power to the condenser section. During the inspection, the condenser coil was found heavily contaminated with grease, oil, and debris, severely restricting airflow and reducing heat transfer efficiency. The condenser coil was thoroughly cleaned using commercial condenser coil cleaner to restore proper airflow and improve refrigeration performance. After completing the electrical repair and condenser maintenance, the reach-in cooler was restarted and monitored through normal operation. The compressor and condenser fan motor resumed normal operation, and the refrigeration system successfully pulled the cabinet temperature below 40°F before departure, confirming the unit was cooling properly. The reach-in cooler was operating normally at the completion of service, helping restore reliable refrigeration for restaurant operations.

Completed commercial rooftop HVAC repair on a Rheem RKNL-A060JK10E rooftop unit after the customer reported the air conditioning system was not cooling properly. Upon arrival, the rooftop unit was powered on; however, the compressor was not operating. A detailed electrical inspection found the compressor run capacitor terminal connection had burned off, preventing the compressor from starting. The damaged terminal connection was repaired and securely reconnected, restoring normal compressor operation. After startup, system performance testing revealed an elevated discharge pressure of approximately 480 PSI, indicating poor condenser heat rejection. The condenser fan motor run capacitor was tested and found to be outside the manufacturer’s acceptable tolerance, reducing condenser fan performance. Replaced the failed condenser fan motor run capacitor and thoroughly cleaned the condenser coil to restore proper airflow and improve system efficiency. Following the repairs, the rooftop unit was restarted and monitored through normal operation. Final operating pressures stabilized at approximately 130 PSI suction and 430 PSI discharge, confirming improved refrigeration performance. Verified proper compressor operation, condenser fan operation, and overall cooling performance before leaving the site. At the time of departure, the Rheem rooftop unit was operating normally with proper airflow, stable refrigerant pressures, and reliable compressor operation. Routine commercial HVAC preventive maintenance, including condenser coil cleaning and capacitor testing, is recommended to improve energy efficiency, reduce compressor stress, and help prevent unexpected rooftop unit failures in commercial buildings.

Completed a commercial rooftop HVAC repair on a Trane packaged rooftop unit serving Coast To Coast Distribution in Austin, Texas. The customer reported the RTU was not cooling properly. Our technician returned with the required OEM replacement parts, including a liquid line filter drier, condenser fan motor capacitor, and new air filters. The sealed refrigeration system was opened, the existing liquid line filter drier was replaced, and the system was evacuated to a deep vacuum to remove moisture and non-condensable gases before being recharged to the manufacturer's factory refrigerant specifications. Additional preventive maintenance included cleaning both the condenser and evaporator coils, replacing eight air filters, clearing the condensate drain line, inspecting the blower belt, and replacing a weak condenser fan motor capacitor. Final operating pressures, compressor amperage, airflow, and condensate drainage were verified before leaving the site. The rooftop unit was restored to normal cooling operation and was operating within manufacturer specifications at the completion of service.

Completed a commercial walk-in cooler refrigerant conversion for Abu Omar Halal in Austin, Texas. The existing refrigeration system was operating with R-422B refrigerant and was converted to R-448A for improved long-term serviceability and efficiency. The existing refrigerant was properly recovered, the liquid line filter drier was replaced, and the refrigeration system was evacuated to a deep vacuum to remove moisture and contaminants before charging with virgin R-448A refrigerant. After startup, refrigerant charge was carefully adjusted while monitoring operating pressures, superheat, and subcooling to ensure proper system performance. A new refrigerant identification label was installed, and final testing confirmed stable operation and proper box temperature before the equipment was returned to service.

Setpoint Services completed a commercial Hoshizaki ice machine repair at Estância Brazilian Steakhouse in North Austin, Texas. We were subcontracted by HVAC Tech LLC to diagnose and restore proper operation of a Hoshizaki KM-2600SRJZ3 commercial ice machine after the unit experienced water flow issues affecting normal ice production. Upon inspection, our technician found that one of the water filters had been installed upside down in the filtration manifold, restricting water flow into the ice machine. The improperly installed filter was corrected, restoring proper water flow to the sump and evaporator water distribution system. After correcting the installation, the Hoshizaki ice machine was restarted and monitored through its operating cycle. Proper water fill was verified, and the machine successfully completed its normal freeze and harvest cycles without additional faults or operational issues. Ice production returned to normal, confirming the restriction had been eliminated. Proper water filtration installation is critical for commercial ice machines, as restricted water flow can reduce ice production, shorten harvest cycles, increase compressor run time, and contribute to premature component wear. Correcting the filter installation restored reliable operation without the need for additional repairs. The commercial Hoshizaki ice machine was fully operational upon departure, and no further repairs were required at the time of service. Setpoint Services provides commercial ice machine repair, preventative maintenance, water filtration services, and emergency refrigeration repair throughout Austin, Round Rock, Georgetown, Cedar Park, and the surrounding Central Texas area.

Setpoint Services responded to a commercial refrigeration service call at a 7-Eleven in San Marcos, Texas after the customer reported an open-air refrigerated display case was not maintaining proper product temperature. A complete diagnostic inspection was performed on the Heatcraft condensing unit, Vendo refrigerated merchandiser, and Copeland scroll compressor system. During the inspection, our technician found the condenser coil completely clogged with dirt and debris, severely restricting airflow and reducing refrigeration efficiency. One condenser fan motor had failed, preventing proper heat rejection. The compressor run capacitor was tested and measured only 20 µF on a 40 µF rated capacitor, confirming capacitor failure. The compressor contactor also showed signs of wear and was recommended for replacement to improve system reliability. A large oil stain was observed on the front left side of the condensing unit, indicating a possible refrigerant leak within the sealed refrigeration system. Due to the failed condenser fan motor and electrical components, the refrigeration system could not operate long enough to accurately verify refrigerant charge, superheat, subcooling, or overall cooling performance. Setpoint Services recommended replacing the failed condenser fan motor, compressor run capacitor, and compressor contactor, followed by a complete condenser coil cleaning. Once the electrical repairs are completed, the refrigeration system should be restarted and tested to verify refrigerant charge, operating pressures, superheat, subcooling, and overall performance. If the oil residue is confirmed to be from an active refrigerant leak, leak detection and sealed-system repairs should be completed. Regular commercial refrigeration preventative maintenance, including condenser coil cleaning, electrical component inspections, and refrigerant system performance testing, helps prevent equipment failures, reduce energy consumption, and extend the life of refrigerated display cases and walk-in refrigeration systems throughout San Marcos and Central Texas.
