Setpoint Services completed preventive maintenance on two Bard trailer-mounted commercial HVAC systems in San Antonio, Texas. Both package units serve a climate-controlled medical trailer where maintaining proper indoor temperature and humidity is critical for reliable operation. Our preventive maintenance service included removing access panels, cleaning both evaporator coils to restore airflow, cleaning both condenser coils to improve heat rejection, inspecting blower assemblies, clearing condensate drain lines, and verifying overall equipment operation. Refrigerant operating pressures were recorded on both R-410A systems after cleaning to confirm normal performance. Both units stabilized at approximately a 42°F evaporator saturation temperature with discharge pressures just under 400 PSI. Indoor trailer temperatures remained approximately 70°F at both thermostats at the completion of service. During the inspection, one trailer HVAC system was observed operating with continuous compressor vapor injection while the adjacent unit under similar operating conditions did not require vapor injection. Evidence also suggested the compressor and condenser coil on that unit had previously been replaced. These findings may indicate the presence of non-condensable gases remaining within the refrigeration system from previous repair work. The customer also expressed concerns regarding humidity inside the trailer. Relative humidity measured approximately 49%, which is considered within a normal operating range. Setpoint Services recommended continued monitoring following today's cleaning. If elevated head pressures or continuous vapor injection continue, we recommend recovering the refrigerant, performing a triple evacuation, and recharging the system with virgin R-410A to eliminate any possible non-condensable gases. Both Bard commercial HVAC systems were operating properly upon departure with improved airflow and cooling performance.

Commercial HVAC Preventive Maintenance – Scholz Beer Garden – Austin, TX Setpoint Services completed scheduled commercial HVAC preventative maintenance on four rooftop air conditioning units at Scholz Beer Garden in Austin, Texas. Service included cleaning condenser coils, replacing air filters, clearing condensate drain lines, inspecting evaporator coils, checking and adjusting belts, testing condenser fan motor capacitors, and recording refrigerant operating pressures. Added 3 lbs of R-422B refrigerant to the main dining room rooftop unit after verifying system operation. All commercial HVAC equipment was operating properly at the completion of service. Routine rooftop HVAC maintenance helps improve energy efficiency, reduce unexpected breakdowns, extend equipment life, and keep restaurant air conditioning systems operating reliably.

Setpoint Services returned to North Street Curry Shop in San Marcos, Texas, to perform a follow-up inspection on a commercial walk-in cooler after a digital thermostat upgrade. The refrigeration system was monitored through a complete automatic defrost cycle to verify proper operation. The walk-in cooler successfully entered and exited defrost as programmed, confirming the digital thermostat and defrost controls were functioning correctly. The unit was operating normally and maintaining temperature at the time of service. During the inspection, it was noted that the walk-in cooler does not have strip curtains installed, allowing excessive warm air infiltration whenever the door is opened. Setpoint Services recommended installing commercial walk-in cooler strip curtains to improve temperature stability, reduce compressor run time, lower energy consumption, and extend the life of the refrigeration equipment. This commercial refrigeration service included thermostat verification, defrost cycle testing, refrigeration system inspection, and preventative maintenance recommendations in San Marcos, Texas.

Setpoint Services diagnosed and repaired a commercial walk-in cooler refrigeration system at Kuppanna Indian Restaurant in Austin, Texas. Upon arrival, the evaporator coil was completely iced over due to a restricted liquid line filter drier and two refrigerant leaks in the evaporator coil. Both leaks were successfully repaired, and the restricted filter drier was replaced to restore proper refrigerant flow. The refrigeration system was pressure tested, evacuated to remove moisture and non-condensables, recharged with approximately 2 pounds of R-404A refrigerant, and thoroughly tested for proper operation. Final operating pressures were approximately 32 PSIG suction and 270 PSIG head pressure, with the walk-in cooler temperature steadily decreasing before departure, confirming normal cooling performance. Due to the age and condition of the existing Copeland condensing unit and Heatcraft evaporator, Setpoint Services recommended replacing the complete walk-in cooler refrigeration system as the most reliable long-term solution to avoid future refrigerant leaks and costly repairs. This service included commercial refrigeration leak repair, filter drier replacement, refrigerant recovery and recharge, pressure testing, evacuation, and system performance verification in Austin, Texas.

Setpoint Services diagnosed and repaired a Scotsman C0330SA-1E commercial ice machine with severe calcium and mineral buildup affecting water circulation and ice production. Upon inspection, the water system was found heavily scaled throughout the sump, water distribution system, evaporator, and circulation pump assembly. The water supply tube between the circulation pump and evaporator was completely clogged with mineral deposits, preventing proper water flow across the evaporator plate. To meet the customer's immediate need for an upcoming event, the restriction was removed and the water system was cleaned enough to restore proper circulation and return the commercial ice machine to operation. The unit was verified producing ice before departure. Due to the excessive mineral buildup, the circulation pump may have sustained damage from prolonged operation under restricted water flow. If water flow problems return, replacement of the circulation pump may be necessary. A complete commercial ice machine deep cleaning, descaling, and sanitizing service is strongly recommended to remove remaining scale, restore efficiency, and help prevent compressor damage, reduced ice production, and future breakdowns. Setpoint Services also recommended enrolling both ice machines in a quarterly preventative maintenance program that includes descaling, sanitizing, operational testing, and routine inspections to maximize equipment life, improve reliability, and reduce costly emergency repairs.

Setpoint Services completed a commercial freezer repair at Los Mangos Ice Cream in Austin, Texas, by diagnosing and correcting temperature control issues on a Criotec CCH-15 HC horizontal glass door freezer. After replacing a failed temperature sensor during a previous visit, additional diagnostics confirmed the electronic controller had also failed. A new Carel PJEZS0H100 digital temperature controller was installed, programmed, and configured to restore reliable temperature control. During the repair, technicians discovered wooden panels installed inside the freezer case that were preventing proper heat transfer between the case floor and evaporator, reducing refrigeration performance and placing unnecessary strain on the system. The condenser coil was also heavily clogged with dirt and debris, restricting airflow and heat rejection, and was thoroughly cleaned to improve cooling efficiency. The freezer was tested, the controller was programmed to a -15°F setpoint, and normal cooling operation was verified before departure. This commercial refrigeration repair included digital controller replacement, freezer temperature control diagnostics, condenser coil cleaning, and performance testing for a commercial glass door freezer in Austin, Texas.
