Setpoint Services completed an emergency commercial walk-in cooler repair at Domino's Pizza, located at 11211 E US Highway 290, Manor, TX 78653, after the restaurant reported the walk-in cooler was no longer maintaining safe operating temperatures. Initial diagnostics during an after-hours emergency service call found the refrigeration system operating with a low refrigerant charge. The condenser coil was heavily contaminated and was thoroughly cleaned to restore airflow and improve heat rejection. An initial 1 pound of refrigerant was added using the remaining refrigerant available on the service truck; however, additional refrigerant was required to complete the repair, so a return visit was scheduled for the following day. During the return visit, Setpoint Services rechecked system performance and found operating pressures of 50 PSI suction and 280 PSI discharge, while the liquid line sight glass continued to flash, confirming the system was still low on refrigerant. An additional 2 pounds of refrigerant were added, restoring the proper system charge. Final operating pressures stabilized at 60 PSI suction and 320 PSI discharge, and the sight glass became full and clear, confirming a solid liquid refrigerant column. The walk-in cooler was monitored until it successfully pulled the box temperature back down to normal operating conditions. Although cooling performance was fully restored, the low refrigerant condition indicates an active refrigerant leak within the system. Setpoint Services recommended scheduling a comprehensive leak search and repair to locate the source of the refrigerant loss and prevent future breakdowns, repeated refrigerant charges, and additional emergency service calls. The walk-in cooler was operating normally at the time of departure.

Setpoint Services completed commercial HVAC and refrigeration repairs at Domino's Pizza Elgin, located at 910 Lee Dildy Blvd, Elgin, TX 78621. The visit included repairs to a Trane rooftop air conditioning unit, preventative maintenance on a Daikin rooftop unit, and refrigerant service for the restaurant's walk-in cooler. The rear Trane rooftop unit was originally found with restricted condenser airflow and a failed indoor blower motor caused by an improperly secured run capacitor installed by a previous service company. During the return visit, Setpoint Services installed a new 460-volt, 1/2 HP condenser fan motor and a new 10 MFD run capacitor, rewired the motor to verify proper rotation, and tested the system after repairs. Final operating conditions measured 135 PSI suction pressure, 420 PSI discharge pressure, and an 18°F temperature split between return and supply air, confirming normal cooling performance. The front-of-house Daikin rooftop unit was also verified after condenser cleaning and produced a 17°F temperature split, confirming satisfactory operation. Although both rooftop units were operating properly at the time of departure, the Trane evaporator coil remains heavily soiled and should be professionally cleaned to improve airflow, efficiency, and long-term system reliability. Setpoint Services also restored operation of the walk-in cooler by adding 5 pounds of R-404A refrigerant to bring the refrigeration system back to its proper operating charge. After charging, the walk-in cooler successfully pulled down to the customer's 35°F setpoint. Although the liquid line sight glass continued to flash slightly, the cooler maintained proper box temperature, and the customer elected not to add additional refrigerant at that time. Both the commercial HVAC equipment and walk-in cooler were operating normally upon completion of the service visit.

Completed commercial ice machine repair and preventive maintenance on a Hoshizaki KMD-505MAJ ice machine after the customer reported the unit was not producing ice properly. Upon inspection, the condenser coil was found to be heavily impacted with dirt and debris, significantly restricting airflow through the condenser. The restricted airflow caused elevated condensing temperatures, reducing refrigeration efficiency and extending ice production times. Performed a thorough condenser coil cleaning to restore proper airflow and heat rejection. After cleaning, the ice machine was monitored through a complete freeze and harvest cycle to verify proper operation. Refrigeration system performance was tested before and after the service. Final operating pressures measured approximately 55 PSIG suction and 275 PSIG discharge during the freeze cycle, which are within Hoshizaki’s recommended operating range for the existing ambient conditions. Harvest pressures were also verified and found to be normal. The freeze cycle was timed at 31 minutes, which falls within the manufacturer’s specifications. The machine completed a normal harvest cycle and resumed dropping ice properly, confirming that condenser airflow restriction was the primary cause of the production issue. At the time of departure, the commercial ice machine was operating normally with proper refrigeration pressures, acceptable freeze cycle duration, and normal harvest operation. Regular preventive maintenance, including routine condenser coil cleaning, is recommended to maximize ice production, improve energy efficiency, reduce compressor operating temperatures, and help prevent unexpected breakdowns in commercial ice machines serving restaurants, hotels, bars, and other food service facilities. Setpoint Services will follow up with the customer over the next several days to verify the machine continues producing ice normally.
